JRS Clinics in Aleppo

Duration: January 2017–December 2018 

Context: 

In 2016, due to the long-lasting Syrian conflict, devastating 66% of citizens of Aleppo did not have access to health services and almost three out of four public hospitals were closed or provided only limited services. 

Project Goal: 

Decrease the vulnerability of individuals affected by the crisis, alleviate their suffering, and provide them with dignified conditions. Enable JRS Clinics in Aleppo (functioning since 2013) to provide the most needed health services to internally displaced individuals as well to members of the host community. 

Implementation and results: 

  • Funds of Caritas Czech Republic, gained as a sponsorship gift from the Czech Ministry of the Interior, contributed to the clinics operation and covered approximately 14% of the operating expenses. 
  • Thanks to the financial assistance from the Czech Ministry of the Interior, Caritas Czech Republic helped JRS Clinics to provide 9 900 health services including X-ray screenings, surgeries, deliveries, regular consultations, as well as provision of medicine.
