It has been 9 months since the catastrophic earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria on 6th of February, claiming the lives of nearly 60,000 people. To this day, a large number of the affected people are still living in temporary shelters because they have nowhere to return to. Help is still very much needed. Caritas Czech Republic continues to help people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

His house was severely damaged and Alaa lost the roof over his head in seconds. Yet he immediately started helping other people affected by the earthquake. In an interview, Alaa explains what it is like to work as a humanitarian in Syria, and what the immediate assistance looked like after the earthquake that took the lives of nearly 60,000 people.
